To enable business leaders, government policymakers and taxpayers to gauge how their states’ tax systems compare, The Tax Foundation’s Center for State Fiscal Policy released its 2012 State Business Tax Climate Index. The Index measures 118 different state tax provisions that can compare each state against the tax climates of every other state. The Index also focuses on how the elements of a state tax system enhance or harm the competitiveness of a state’s business environment. The ten best states in the 2012 Index are:
