In 2011, the U.S. plastics industry exported goods valued at $59 billion to the rest of the world, which is equivalent to 5.2 percent of all U.S. exports for the year. To assist member companies who are either looking to begin exporting or for new expansion opportunities, SPI has prepared trade data sheets for the top 25 exports markets. Each sheet provides some basic background information on that market as well as import and exports trends for the past decade. Although the U.S. plastics industry exports to most countries in the world, trade with these top 25 countries account for more than 90 percent of both U.S. plastics exports and imports in 2011.
