GENE SANDERS
SENIOR VICE PRESIDENT, TRADE SHOWS
SPI: THE PLASTICS INDUSTRY TRADE ASSOCIATION
Bringing 26 years of experience in the management and marketing of industry shows and conferences, Gene Sanders joined SPI in July 2007 as vice president of trade shows. Sanders oversees the work of SPI staff and specialized vendors in producing NPE, SPI’s triennial international plastics exposition, which takes place April 1-5, 2010 in Orlando, Florida. Sanders is charged with carrying out SPI’s growth strategy for NPE, expanding the show by attracting even more international participation, showcasing new technologies and creating more programs that appeal directly to designers, processors, and OEMs in end-use industries served by plastics. Sanders came to SPI from SC&H Group, an international consulting firm, where he launched C4-Events, a specialized consultancy for trade shows, with clients such as the National Cable and Telecommunications Association. Previously, as a vice president for the Telecommunications Industry Association, he had overall responsibility for SUPERCOMM, an exposition with 30,000 visitors and 700 exhibitors on 300,000 net sq. ft (28,000 sq,m). Sanders was also senior director of sales and services for the National Association of Broadcasters, whose annual show covers a million square feet (93,000 sq.m) of exhibit space and attracts 100,000 registrants.
