Meeting in La Jolla, Calif. to Coincide with IBC Single-Use Applications for Biopharmaceutical Manufacturing Conference & Exhibition

The Bio-Process Systems Alliance (BPSA), an industry group of SPI: The Plastics Industry Trade Association, will hold its 2nd Annual Business Roundtable at the Hyatt Regency La Jolla in La Jolla, Calif. on the evening of June 2, 2009.  BPSA represents the full value chain of the Single-Use sector: component suppliers, systems integrators, ancillary services companies and end-users (bio-pharma and bio-tech companies).

Held in tandem with the IBC Single-Use Applications for Biopharmaceutical Manufacturing Conference & Exhibition (June 1-3), the BPSA Roundtable will present three important topics of interest to the Single-Use community:

• A view into the current debate in Washington, D.C. concerning the imminent launch of a White House-driven health care reform package, which will be presented by Gregory Gierer, policy director, Pharmaceutical Research and  Manufacturers of America;

• A cost/benefits analysis and case study of a vaccine production facility employing Single-Use systems, to be presented by Peter Watler, principal consultant, Hyde Engineering & Consulting; and

• Perspectives on technology and machinery advances that may allow for streamlined automated production of sterile bags and liners for pharma applications, presented by Martin Woodhouse of GN Packaging and Automation.

In addition, BPSA Committee chairs will report on the ongoing work of the Alliance in the areas of extractables and leachables, economic analyses of Single-Use systems being developed for BPSA White Paper publications and the plans for a BPSA presence at NPE 2009, the largest plastics trade show in North America, to be held June 22-26 in Chicago.  The program will conclude with an industry networking reception.

Registration is required to attend this event. The agenda and registration form can be found at www.bpsalliance.org

BPSA will also be exhibiting in Booth 2009 during the IBC Trade Show June 1-3 at the La Jolla Hyatt Regency
