In March 2007 the SPI Executive Board voted to approve re-starting SPI-PAC, Which originated in 1996 but had remained dormant since 2000. In making this decision, the Executive Board determined that SPI-PAC will be a critical non-partisan tool for SPI to support candidates for federal office that champion the public policy issues of the plastics industry. SPI-PAC resumed its activities in early 2008 with plans to participate in the 2008 elections with the support of SPI members.
SPI-PAC is the only political action committee uniquely focused on the needs of the plastics industry. SPI-PAC offers you the ability to participate and make a difference concerning public policies that not only benefit your company and employees, but also the plastics industry.
SPI-PAC is a non-partisan political action committee and supports candidates from each political party in accordance with the following guidelines:
SPI-PAC operates under the rules established by the Federal Election Commission.
Unlike corporations and unions, trade association PACs must receive prior written approval from its corporate members before soliciting their restricted class. Although the Federal Election Commission permits any individual with whom the association normally conducts activities to approve such request, SPI-PAC will seek to gain prior approval from top executives or voting representatives of member companies.
By granting SPI-PAC the authority to solicit its executive and administrative personnel, member companies may not approve a similar request from another trade association for the same calendar year. However member companies may permit SPI-PAC to solicit its employees for multiple years. Download the SPI-PAC Prior Approval Form.
Only U.S. citizens and permanent green card holders may participate under federal law.
