SPI Structural Plastics Division Issues Call for Papers for Structural Plastics 2001

Washington (October 17, 2000) — The Structural Plastics Division of The Society of the Plastics Industry, Inc. (SPI) today announced that it is accepting submissions of technical papers for the Structural Plastics 2001 annual conference and new product design recognition.

"Technical papers should address the latest uses of materials, business strategies and production innovations to advance attendees' knowledge of the structural plastics arena," said Allen Weidman, executive director of the SPI Structural Plastics Division. Other appropriate paper topics include case studies, low-pressure structural foam; creative design and tooling; new process technologies and time- or cost-reducing product development methods, Weidman added.

A detailed abstract outlining the scope and content of the proposed paper is due December 1, 2000 with the final paper due February 15, 2001.

Structural Plastics 2001, set for April 1-3 in Atlanta, will be the preeminent showcase for the structural plastics industry. Over 300 original equipment manufacturer (OEM) buyers, manufacturing and tooling engineers, product development managers, moldmakers, equipment and technology providers, material suppliers and processors are expected to attend the conference, which provides a non-commercial forum for the advancement of the structural plastics industry.

For guidelines on submitting technical papers or additional information about the conference visit the Structural Plastics Division Web site at www.plasticparts.org or contact Karen Miles, SPI Structural Plastics Division, 1801 K St NW, Suite 600-K, Washington, D.C. 20006-1301, phone (800) 525-3984, e-mail kmiles@socplas.org.
