(SPI). He replaces John Malloy, who recently retired after 26 years with SPI. Hausoul came to RPPI from SPI's Vinyl Siding Institute, where he was director of technical and regulatory affairs. Before joining SPI, he was associate director of product stewardship and customer outreach for the Chlorine Chemistry Council of what is now the American Chemistry Council. He also spent five years with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, as an environmental protection specialist and a project manager. "We are pleased to have someone with John's technical background as our executive director," said Thomas Herlihy, president of SPI member Winpak Portion Packaging, Inc., of Bristol, PA, and chairman of the RPPI. "We look forward to working with him to address our group's issues and challenges." "The RPPI is an important business unit for the SPI," said Donald K. Duncan, the association's president, "and John's demonstrated skills and leadership most certainly will help its members reach the unit's goals." Hausoul, who has a B.S. in Biology and Environmental Public Policy from Northland College, holds a master's degree in Public Management from the School of Public Affairs of the University of Maryland at College Park. The Rigid Plastic Packaging Institute promotes the public acceptance of the consumer and environmental benefits of plastic bottles and rigid plastic containers. The group also helps its members improve their technical and management quality. Founded in 1937, The Society of the Plastics Industry, Inc., is the trade association representing one of the largest manufacturing industries in the United States. SPI's 1,700 members represent the entire plastics industry supply chain, including processors, machinery and equipment manufacturers and raw material suppliers.
