Contact: Bonnie Merrill Limbach FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE NATIONAL CERTIFICATION IN PLASTICS PROGRAM TO DELIVER TESTING AT NPE WASHINGTON (March 9, 2000) – – – Registration is under way for machine operator testing at NPE, the triennial trade show of The Society of the Plastics Industry, Inc. (SPI). The testing will be done under SPI's National Certification in Plastics (NCP) program, the first-ever industry-wide standard for machine operators in all four major plastic processes. At the show, which will be held June 19-23 at Chicago's McCormick Place, employers will have the convenience of testing their operators at one central location, said Stacey Glover, manager of the NCP program. As always, she said, results will be available immediately after testing, and special recognition will be given at NPE to those persons achieving certification during the show. In related news, SPI has developed a new textbook – the NCP Study Guide – to help employees prepare for the exam. The Study Guide covers the seven main content areas of the NCP exam, providing a comprehensive study tool, Glover said. Glover noted that the Study Guide and other information about the SPI National Certification in Plastics Program will be available at the NCP booth at NPE. For more information on the NCP program, call Stacey Glover at (202) 974-5356; e-mail sglover@socplas.org. Founded in 1937, The Society of the Plastics Industry, Inc., (SPI) is the trade association representing the fourth-largest manufacturing industry in the United States. SPI's nearly 1800 members represent the entire plastics industry supply chain, including processors, machinery and equipment manufacturers and raw material suppliers. The U.S. plastics industry employs 1.3 million workers and provides $274 billion in annual shipments. More About SPI: Vision and Mission . Membership . Business Units . Regional Offices .
