The Sheet Producers Division is an SPI business unit concentrating on issues pertaining to the production of and sales of plastic sheet and roll stock. Members are companies that either produce plastic resins, manufacture sheet and/or roll stock, or manufacture machinery for use in the extrusion of plastic material.

What is the SPD's purpose?

• Promote the use of plastic sheet and roll stock products.
• Provide an opportunity for members to interact and exchange ideas in a forum-like atmosphere.
• Promote the development of new applications.
• Promote the proper use of plastic sheet and roll stock by the assembly and dissemination of scientific and engineering information on various thermoplastics materials.
• Carry out appropriate testing programs and develop technical specifications, chemical and physical test procedures and performance standards on plastic sheet.
• Promote the use of good manufacturing practices, including safety and health issues and compliance with recognized standards of performance and quality management.
• Compile and disseminate technical, statistical, environmental and other data of interest to the industry.
• Provide an environment to enable advancement of the industry and its employees.

How does the SPD accomplish the above objectives?

• Through the committee organization that is established under the following headings:
  • Executive Committee
  • Management Issues Committee
  • Marketing/Membership Committee
  • Industry Growth Committee
  • Finance Committee

• By conducting two meetings each year for the purpose of:
  • Discussing progress on current issues.
  • Establishing new programs important to the accomplishment of division objectives.
  • Providing information in a formal manner on topic areas pertaining to running a sheet processing business.
  • Networking with the membership.
