Perc Pineda to Serve as Staff Expert on Economics, Statistics and Industry Research

WASHINGTON, D.C. – The Plastics Industry Association (PLASTICS) today announced the hiring of its Chief Economist Perc Pineda. In a new role slated to help the association bolster its in-house data-driven counsel, research and reports, Pineda joins PLASTICS bringing over 20 years of experience that includes academia and trade association work. Most recently, Pineda served as the senior economist for the Credit Union National Association (CUNA) where he tracked macroeconomic trends, conducted economic research and wrote articles for publications.

“PLASTICS is thrilled to welcome Perc in his newly-appointed role. We have been searching diligently for an economist who can help us to continuously produce cutting-edge industry data and really give us an edge up on our in-house reports and research,” said William R. Carteaux, PLASTICS’ president and CEO.

Pineda will receive his Ph.D. in Economics from the New School of Social Research, where he also earned his M.Phil. in Economics. He also holds an M.A. in Economics from American University and a Masters in International Management from the University of Maryland. As an economics professor, Pineda taught macroeconomics at St. Francis College and microeconomics, finance, and economics of regulations and the law at the City University of New York. Prior to a stint in academia, Pineda worked for the International Monetary Fund and the U.S. Dairy Export Council, working on market access and regulatory affairs.
