  • Senate Passes Tax Prevention Act of 2014
    After a tumultuous two weeks since the House passed H.R. 5771, the Tax Prevention Act of 2014, the Senate passed the bill with a vote of 76-16 last night. The $42 billion retroactive bill will now be sent to the President to be signed into law.
  • NLRB Issues Final “Ambush Elections” Rule Limiting Employers’ Rights in the Workplace
    The rule will speed up the time for a union election to 10 to 14 days from a median of 38 days while denying an employer adequate time to communicate union opposition with employees or to delay the election. The Coalition for a Democratic Workplace (CDW), of which SPI is an active member, will challenge the rule in court.
