    POSITION DESCRIPTION: Marketing Manager - Tradeshows

    Will help direct the marketing team (currently Brand Manager, Digital Marketing Specialist) in developing, implementing, and executing the association’s integrated marketing strategy promoting PLASTICS’ tradeshows, plastics, advancing plastics manufacturing, sustainability, and promoting PLASTICS properties in conjunction with the events, to include conferences, meetings, and membership.

    Reports to:                        Senior Director of Marketing

    Office Location:                  Headquarters, Washington, D.C.


    Essential Functions:

      • Responsible for management and execution of integrated marketing campaigns for PLASTICS’ tradeshows, to include NPE, Re|focus Sustainability & Recycling Summit, Plastics Shop Floor Expo, Global Plastics Summit, and other tradeshows as developed.
      • Responsible for management and execution of PLASTICS’ tradeshows/events marketing campaigns in alignment with the association’s marketing vision, to include branding, positioning, voice, and personality of the association.
      • Will lead collaboration with stakeholders to develop and implement marketing campaigns for PLASTICS’ tradeshows utilizing print, digital, mobile, media, and social media channels to meet short and long term goals.
      • Will participate in the development of the creative strategy for PLASTICS’ tradeshow campaigns.
      • Will regularly report progress of all campaigns to Senior Director, Marketing, to include metrics, tracking, campaign activities, and budget activities.
      • Responsible for oversight of marketing channels, to include but not limited to PLASTICS’ web properties and PLASTICS’ customer/prospect databases.
      • Will work on collaboration with the Communications department on PLASTICS’ social media, working to tell the story of the PLASTICS’ tradeshows, its members, and plastics.
      • Responsible for developing metrics to monitor, measure, and track success of each campaign.
      • Will assist in developing and monitoring marketing budgets.
      • Manage and maintain vendor/agency relationships, as appropriate to responsibilities.
      • Will encourage and empower marketing team to explore, evaluate, and advocate best practices and implement new industry trends.
      • Other duties and projects as assigned by supervisor.

        • Staff member is expected to provide excellent customer service to members, service providers, vendors, and other PLASTICS staff at all times.
        • Member communications—telephone, written and oral—are a central part of PLASTICS' day-to-day business. Staff member is expected to treat member communications as a top priority.

        Relationships:

          • Internally: Interface with cross-departmental teams from industry sector groups.
          • Externally: NPE committee members, advertising agency staff, conference attendees, contractors, temporary support staff, and other service providers.

          Job Qualifications:

            • Education: BA/BS degree in related field is required.
            • Experience: 7+ years in marketing for B2B campaigns is required.

            Special Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

            • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite required.
            • Must have experience in managing multiple digital channels (such as websites, search engines, social media, display ads, email and mobile).
            • Knowledge of both traditional media and digital media programs.
            • Knowledge of InDesign/Illustrator programs.
            • Deep understanding of various media attribution models including: first touch, last touch and shared attribution
            • Proficient working with: Excel, Hootsuite, Google Analytics.
            • Creative and conceptual thinker.
            • Ability to work independently, with minimal supervision and manage shifting priorities, handling multiple assignments simultaneously; prioritize and meet deadlines.
            • Ability to plan and work on a schedule and with a budget, under sometimes very busy conditions due to specific time constraints.
            • Excellent organizational skills.
            • Must be detail oriented.
            • Must be customer service and team oriented.
            • Excellent interpersonal skills.

            Reports to: Senior Director, Industry Affairs
            FLSA Classification: Exempt
            Office Location: Headquarters, Washington, DC

            General Summary: Serve as the organization’s primary staff expert on economics, statistics and industry research. Responsible for the identification, development, execution, ongoing management and promotion of PLASTICS research, insights, benchmarking and thought leadership platforms. Work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders on PLASTICS research projects. Oversee certain U.S. and international economic and statistical programs within the association.

            Essential Functions:

            • Responsible for the identification, development, execution and publishing of PLASTICS economic research, benchmarking, thought leadership and industry insight projects and programs.
            • Develop, manage and execute internal research mechanisms, data collection vehicles and reporting capabilities (i.e. member surveys, public data, government databases, economic reports, etc.).
            • Manage specific projects, timelines and deliverables.
            • Ongoing management of PLASTICS’ Committee on Equipment Statistics data and analysis.
            • Serve as spokesperson on economic and trade statistics, coordinating messages with PLASTICS Communications staff.
            • In conjunction with marketing and communications teams, develop and execute publication marketing and promotion plans for research/insights/thought leadership, PLASTICS communication platforms, website, webinars, social media, trade/consumer press, etc.
            • Deliver presentations on PLASTICS research and industry insights at internal council/committee meetings and other selected venues.
            • Develop educational tools and programs (meeting programs, seminar, webinars, et.) in support of industry research and surveys.
            • Manage vendors responsible for providing economic and other industry research reports.
            • Manage research project budgets.
            • Participate in external programs with counterparts in member companies, coalitions, and other trade associations.
            • Other duties as assigned.

            Job Qualifications:

            • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Economics or related discipline, with course work in statistics; masters or law degree preferred.
            • Experience: 7+ years in association management, market research, consulting, analytics/insight development. Qualitative and quantitative research experience; 1+ year(s) of professional experience in a manufacturing-related industry.
            • Core Competencies: Teamwork, ethical behavior, ability to quickly adjust to change and to work under pressure. Customer service orientation. Outstanding written and oral communications skills. Member communications – written and oral – are a central part of PLASTICS’s day-to-day business; staff member will be expected to treat member communications as a top priority. Ability to manage a variety of projects simultaneously. Ability to travel, both domestically and internationally.
