Background

SPI is active in monitoring and developing codes and standards for the plastics industry. These activities include alerting members to codes and standards based issues that may impact plastics and ensuring that the membership has a voice in the codes and standards making processes. SPI's activities also focus on strengthening the membership's opportunity to influence and address codes and standards that affect the plastics industry.

The SPI Coordinating Committee for Fire Safety (CCFS) serves as a forum for SPI business units and other interested company members to bring forth and/or review specific building and fire code proposals and related fire safety issues. Also, SPI Staff regularly reviews the publications of codes and standards organizations to identify activities of interest to the plastics industry.
