Dems Should Focus on Solutions Instead of Demonizing Plastics

Plastics Industry Association (PLASTICS) President & CEO Tony Radoszewski:

“No matter how a straw or a plastic product is being used, or even how many of them there are, we can all agree that none of them should end up as litter. Whatever a product is made of, it should be disposed of responsibly.

Plastic products and the question of how to manage them have come up multiple times during the democratic presidential campaign, in ways that have ranged from misguided to plainly misleading. With the campaign sure to heat up after today’s caucuses, we hope the focus going forward is on how we can work together to actually invest in real, lasting solutions to the larger challenges of litter and climate change.

That’s what the plastics industry is doing, and we hope that, in the future, the democratic candidates for president will work to actually solve the problem rather than spending their time demonizing a material that’s more environmentally-friendly than most other options.”
