On April 3, the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) proposed to further delay the effective date of amendments to the “Accidental Release Prevention Requirements: Risk Management Programs under the Clean Air Act.” The proposed effective date of February 19, 2019 is to allow EPA more time to address petitions for reconsideration of the January 13, 2017 final rule, which could result in a proposal and revision to that rule or other regulatory action. At present, the rule has been stayed with implementation delayed to June 19, 2017, and its repeal has been sought through Congressional Review Act resolutions.

A public hearing on the proposal is scheduled for April 19 in Washington, DC, and comments are due on May 19. For more information, please contact Marie Gargas.
