Karl Palmer is the Deputy Director for the Safer Consumer Products program at the California Department of Toxic Substances Control (DTSC). Karl he is responsible for implementing and enforcing California’s Safer Consumer Products regulations to promote the development of safer alternatives to products that pose threats to California’s environment and residents.

Karl has worked for DTSC for over 30 years in a wide array of management and technical positions. Prior to his work in the Safer Consumer Products program, he managed programs in Pollution Prevention, Hazardous Waste Management and Emergency Response.   Karl received his Bachelor of Science degree in Resource Sciences from the University of California, Davis.
