Salary: $52,500 – $66,000

The Plastics Industry Association (PLASTICS), a Washington DC based trade association represents the nation’s nearly one million workers in the plastics industry. PLASTICS seeks a Manager, Industry Engagement to create and maintain relationships with PLASTICS members while managing and/or assisting with the management of the day-to-day operations of the Processors Council and related groups including the FlexForum Steering Committee and the Future Leaders in Plastics (FLiP) Committee. The day-to-day operations include committee management, project management, communications, budgeting, and program/content development and implementation related to conferences and meetings.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage task groups and programs under the Future Leaders in Plastics (FLiP) Committee, PLASTICS’ young professionals’ group, including:
  • Developing and executing projects and corresponding activities for programs such as the mentorship program, book club, speaker series, and community impact initiatives
  • Supporting the creation and implementation of initiatives to drive growth of the program by recruiting new members and increasing engagement of current members
  • Administering meetings both internally with staff and externally with members to drive current and new activities of the programs
  • Organizing the monthly newsletter
  • Coordinating with the Communications and Marketing departments and other applicable PLASTICS staff to promote the programs and overall FLiP group.
  • Assist with management of the activities and projects of the Processors Industry Segment such as Processors Council and FlexForum Steering Committee, including:
  • Helping to develop agendas
  • Collecting and putting together materials needed for the meetings and events
  • Taking and distributing meeting minutes
  • Assisting with communications to Council and committees
  • Other duties as assigned
  • Attend PLASTICS and other industry events to assist with the facilitation of meetings and functions, networking and relationship building, performing any other duties assigned to ensure the success of the events, and overall serving as a representative of PLASTICS.

Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in business, marketing, communications, public policy or a related field.
  • A minimum of two years’ experience in business, public policy, or customer service industry; trade association or a related industry preferred.
  • Experience with a customer relationship management system (e.g., HubSpot preferred).
  • Experience with or willingness to learn project and program management and the plastics industry.

  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, Excel a plus.
  • Ability to travel (<20%)
