PLASTICS Welcomes Governor Newsom’s Veto of SB 1180

WASHINGTON, D.C. – The Plastics Industry Association (PLASTICS) released the following statement after California Governor Gavin Newsom vetoed SB-1180, legislation that would have expanded requirements governing how funds from California’s Plastic Pollution Mitigation Fund may be used:

“The Plastics Industry Association had concerns with SB-1180 because it would have allowed producer-funded mitigation dollars to be used for purposes beyond what they were originally intended to support. Producers in California already face significant obligations and costs under SB-54, and SB-1180 would have made it even worse. Governor Newsom’s veto was the right decision.”
