Promoting a Better World on Earth Day 2018
Earth Day 2018 is on Sunday, April 22, and as many of you know, the theme this year is “End Plastic Pollution.” As the association that represents companies who make plastic products, we don’t like to see litter and recognize that it is everyone’s responsibility to help make sure plastic products are made responsibly and disposed of properly.
Given this year’s Earth Day theme, we know that all eyes will be focused on plastic, giving us the opportunity to have honest – and sometimes difficult – discussions about our industry, while also showcasing our evolving commitment to sustainability through innovative designs that enable products to be better-recycled and emerging technologies that expand recycling capabilities.
Here are a few ways companies in the plastics industry are promoting a better world on Earth Day:

The Rodon Group Promotes Sustainable Manufacturing
The Rodon Group is dedicated to implementing sustainable, eco-friendly initiatives not just on Earth Day, but all year long. Learn more about their efforts to adopt more sustainable manufacturing processes in their plastics injection molding operations here.

Printpack is celebrating Earth Day 2018 by:
- Hosting community cleanups in the areas surrounding its facilities
- Participating in “Adopt a Spot” to commit to long-term cleanliness of roads in the City of Newport News and James City County
- Planting gardens outside of its Williamsburg and Newport News, VA facilities and distributing “seed paper” so that employees can plant wild flowers
- Working with Trex to collect employee’s plastic shopping bags for reuse in plastic lumber
- Encouraging employees to make personal commitments to sustainability and the environment on a pledge board (below)

Petoskey Plastics Celebrates 40 Years of Recycling
