President Vetoes Legislation to Block NLRB “Ambush Election” Rule
Thu April 2, 2015
As expected, President Obama issued a “Memorandum of Disapproval” March 31 regarding S.J. Res. 8, effectively pocket vetoing the legislation. S J. Res. 8 was passed by Congress to halt the National Labor Relations Board’s (NLRB) “ambush election” rule through the Congressional Review Act. The NLRB rule will speed up the time unionization elections are held in workplaces and will be implemented on April 14. The last chance to block this rule will be through an ongoing legal challenge by the Coalition for a Democratic Workplace (CDW) of which SPI is an active member.
