Recommended Procedures for Measuring Plastic Container Dimensions

This bulletin provides recommended procedures to guide container manufacturers and packagers in measuring dimensions. The methods shown, as well as equivalent methods, are commonly used in the industry. Measuring instruments commonly used by manufacturers and packagers are listed, and equivalent instruments of equal accuracy can be substituted. It should be noted that readings taken using an optical comparator may differ from those taken by hand, depending on the experience of the inspector.
