Washington D.C. — The Orange County Register has featured an op-ed by Plastics Industry Association (PLASTICS) Western Region Director of State Government Affairs, Ivy Brittain, highlighting the importance of strengthening California’s commitment to recycling.
In the piece, Brittain explains that recycling is a technology-driven industry that supports hundreds of thousands of American jobs and generates billions in economic activity. She calls for policies that modernize infrastructure, strengthen end markets for recycled materials, and provide regulatory certainty so recycling systems can operate efficiently and effectively.

“The question is not whether recycling is ‘worth it.’ The real question is how we make the system more efficient — by strengthening end markets, modernizing infrastructure, and giving consumers clear, consistent information about what belongs in the blue bin and why it matters. California’s future should be built on solutions — not excuses for giving up.”
