Building Connections Across the Value Chain: Matt Trump, Regional Sales Manager at ACS Group

Matt Trump is a Regional Sales Manager at ACS Group, where he supports customers throughout Ohio, Indiana, and Kentucky. Over the past two and a half years, he has worked closely with plastics processors to provide auxiliary equipment solutions through ACS Group’s heritage brands AEC, Cumberland, and Sterling. His role involves collaborating with internal teams, manufacturers’ representatives, and customers to develop equipment recommendations and quotes, while traveling regularly for customer visits, trade shows, and industry conferences.

Matt attended the University of Akron, where he studied Business Administration and Management. His path into the plastics industry started through family connections after working with his father-in-law’s manufacturers’ representative agency, Paramco, before eventually joining ACS Group full time.

Matt credits several mentors for helping shape his career, including his father-in-law, Terry Freudeman, who brought more than 20 years of extrusion experience to help guide him early on. Through the FLiP Mentorship Program, he also connected with Raul Scheller of Sepro, lending valuable leadership and industry insight.

What Matt enjoys most about the plastics industry is its impact on everyday life, from medical and automotive applications to packaging and building products. He especially enjoys visiting customer facilities and seeing firsthand how products are made and how different companies solve challenges in unique ways.

Matt believes one of the industry’s biggest challenges today is improving recycling systems and sustainability efforts. He notes that manufacturers need high-quality recycled resin to produce quality products, making stronger recycling standards and infrastructure critical for the future of the industry.

Matt has been involved in FLiP since joining ACS Group, participating in the Mentorship Program, National Plastics Conference, Plastics Industry Fly-In, and other various networking events and meetups. He values the opportunity to build relationships, grow professionally, and connect with others across the industry.

Outside of work, Matt lives in the Cleveland, Ohio area with his wife and their two dogs. He enjoys traveling and exploring new places whenever he has the chance.
