ANSI/SPI B151.31-2014 Safety Requirements for Blow Molding Machines

This standard outlines the requirements for the manufacture and use of all Blow Molding Machines (BMMs) involved in processing plastic materials. These machines are used to blow a parison or preform into the shape of a mold cavity using vertically or horizontally acting clamps. BMM suppliers and users are expected to conduct a risk assessment during the manufacturing, maintenance, and operation of the machinery. Any deviations from the standard’s requirements should be supported by a documented risk assessment. It is important to note that this standard does not cover the safety requirements for ancillary equipment used with BMMs.
