PLASTICS Releases New Recycling Is Real Videos Featuring Advanced Drainage Systems

Washington, D.C. The Plastics Industry Association (PLASTICS) has released a new series of videos as part of the Recycling Is Real advocacy initiative. The videos showcase the recycling work taking place at Advanced Drainage Systems, Inc. (ADS), headquartered in Hilliard, Ohio, where more than half a billion pounds of plastic are recycled each year.

Since its launch in 2023, PLASTICS’ Recycling Is Real campaign has highlighted both mechanical and advanced recycling facilities throughout the United States. Employees featured in each video represent the recycling workforce in communities nationwide. Previously featured locations include: Atlanta, GA; Kingsport, TN; Madison, WI; North Vernon, IN; Baton Rouge, LA; Portland, PA; Eagle Rock, VA; Rialto, CA; Wytheville, VA; Piqua, OH; Reidsville, NC; Tampa, FL; Chino, CA; Ironton, OH; Houston, TX; and Farmingdale, NY.

“In Ohio and communities across America, plastic is being recycled every day—and Advanced Drainage Systems is leading the way,” said Matt Seaholm, President and CEO of the Plastics Industry Association. “Our Recycling Is Real campaign showcases the hardworking people behind recycling and the investments in innovation our industry is making to increase recycling rates. These new videos send a clear message to the public and policymakers alike: plastic recycling is real, it works, and it’s essential to a more circular and resilient economy.”

“Our commitment to sustainability starts with how we manufacture our products,” said Kristen Rinehart, Vice President and General Manager of Recycling at Advanced Drainage Systems. “As one of the largest plastics recyclers in North America, we recycle over half a billion pounds of plastic annually, giving new life to materials that might otherwise go to waste. It’s a responsibility we take seriously, and one our people deliver on every day.”

The Recycling Is Real campaign provides content to help elected officials and policymakers understand that recycling is a vital link in the sustainability and circularity chain, enabling them to make well-informed decisions about recycling infrastructure and support.

The Recycling Is Real campaign was launched to combat false narratives suggesting that recycling is not happening or that it’s a “myth.” With some seeking to reduce or eliminate plastic production altogether, Recycling Is Real demonstrates where and how recycling occurs—and introduces the people making it happen.
